My family can testify to the authenticity of Maryvale Academy’s community. We first heard about Maryvale Academy seven years ago when the Maryvale choir sang at our parish. We came to the school in search of a place where our children’s love of learning, their pursuit of Truth and their Catholic faith would grow. We found these three things and much more.

I was given a chance to experience the true heart of the Maryvale community over the past two years as our family journeyed through an intense period of suffering. My husband’s six year battle with cancer ended on May 4, 2017.

The loving support of the Maryvale community was overwhelming. First and foremost, the community became prayer warriors. Prayers were offered at school Masses, during class time, and in the homes of many school families. The storming of heaven was heard and answered. At   every stage of his journey Paul was graced with incredible faith, trust, and hope – despite intense physical trials. Days before his death Paul declared that he was a very lucky man.

After Paul’s death all the students, teachers and parents from the school attended the funeral. Then on All Souls’ Day the school’s annual cemetery visitation to pray for the dead was held at Hope Cemetery so that prayers could be offered at Paul’s resting place.

The school community also rolled up their sleeves with physical help. During Paul’s final weeks, one Maryvale mom coordinated the daily drop-off of meals prepared by many families. Since his death Maryvale moms have been driving my children home on a daily basis.

The spiritual and the physical help were all provided in love. I have witnessed the deep Christ-like love that makes Maryvale so unique. One incident among many is that when one of my children returned to school after an extended period of absence due to grieving, his classmates
greeted him with a round of applause and hugs.

It was this promise of a true Catholic community that drew us to Maryvale, and I know the impact of the loving charity present at this school will live with my children and I long after they have graduated.

I have been involved with Maryvale Academy for three years, hearing confessions and celebrating Mass monthly with them during the school year.  I have always found the school environment on these occasions pleasant, respectful and reverent. The children are familiar with the parts of the Mass and are trained to sing or say the responses.  I think Maryvale is doing a commendable and important task in educating young Catholics in their understanding and practice of the faith.

Maryvale Academy is a wonderful school. In our experience, we have found the teachers to be approachable, kind and dedicated. The classical education our children are receiving every day at school has made them blossom both academically and socially. The spiritual formation that we are trying to instill in our children at home is supported and built upon during school hours, providing an excellent dual support system between the home and the school. We feel very privileged to be able to send our children to this school every day. We could not recommend this school enough, it is a gem!

We both work in areas that require a science background –mother is a medical doctor and father is an electronics engineer. We are so impressed with how rigorous and advanced the Maryvale science and mathematics curricula are. Our boys are also learning excellent written and oral communications skills through both the English and French programs. The small classes and high expectations of the teachers are big contributors to the success of the academic portion of the school.

The love of Jesus as expressed through the holy Catholic faith is pervasive in all activities in the school. Weekly mass and weekly confession times really help our boys with their spiritual growth.
We would heartily recommend Maryvale for families that care strongly about academic growth and providing a solidly spiritual and religious environment for their children.
