In the spirit of Classical Education, Maryvale is proud to encourage students to develop proficiency in English and French.
Kindergarten Program
The kindergarten program at Maryvale features small class size, individual attention, an inviting, spacious & well-equipped classroom, and above all, a loving and nurturing atmosphere in which to grow academically and spiritually.
Bilingual Program
The Bilingual Program at Maryvale Academy is designed to provide non-francophone children from Grades 1 to 4 with the opportunity to develop proficiency in French as they continue to develop their English language skills.
English Language Arts
The approach to classical education is language-focused: learning is accomplished through words; written and spoken. Maryvale Academy provides a comprehensive Language Arts program that builds the foundation necessary for life-long learning.
Math
Students at Maryvale Academy study math every day and follow a program that uses a “concrete-pictorial-abstract” learning progression.
Science
The science curriculum at Maryvale aims to cultivate an interest in and a sense of awe and respect for God’s creation through the study of the life, earth and physical sciences.
Religion
By receiving catechetical teaching in these formation years, students learn the fundamental beliefs of our Catholic faith such as the Commandments, the Triune God, the Creed, the Sacraments, the Holy Mass and our moral life in Christ.
French Language Arts
The French Language Arts program at Maryvale Academy is designed to further the proficiency of students coming from the bilingual program with the goal of becoming native-like speakers of French.
History & Geography
At Maryvale, history is taught school-wide on a four-year cycle. History is taught from a Catholic world-view perspective and starts with Ancient Cultures in Year 1 extending to Modern Times in Year 4. Each year there is also additional focus on Canadian History.
The Arts (Visual Arts, Speech & Drama, Music)
Although visual art is integrated across the curriculum, time is set apart for art class, in which students study the great works of art and learn through imitation of the masters.
Physical Education
Maryvale Academy strives to develop the whole person, spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, culturally and physically. Thus, physical education is an important part of a student’s well-rounded education.
